Owen Springs
Originally the Owen Springs Reserve was known as the Owen Springs cattle station. It was one of the first homesteads built in Central Australia. You can get access to the area that is rich in history via the main access track through the reserve. The area itself was discovered by European explorers that were looking to open it up for white settlement.  John Stuart in 1860 with his companion William Kekwick and Benjamin Head worked their way north to the Hugh river. During their travels north they discovered a large waterhole that Stuart named Owen Springs. There are a number of different things to see and do in in the reserve.

Ellery Creek
Ellery Creek is a stunning area located within the West MacDonnell Ranges. It can be found approx 80km from Alice Springs. It is a cruisy drive along the Larapinta and Namatjira and majority of the access to the waterhole and camping area are on sealed roads.
Campgrounds
The campsites are situated close together in a loop formation and close by to the visitor car park. It is a case of first in best dressed when camping at Ellery Creek.
It is not an overly picturesque campsite but the waterhole more than compensates for this.

 Redbank Gorge
Redbank Gorge can be found at the base of Mt. Sonder, one of the most photographed and loved mountain in the West MacDonnells Ranges. Redbank Gorge is a sacred site of the Western Arrente Aboriginal people. Redbank Gorge is one of those places you have to see with your own eyes to really appreciate. You can peacefully float down the cool waters of Redbank Gorge to areas that are hidden from the world.

Campgrounds
Basic camping facilities are available at two different locations - the Woodland and the Ridgetop campgrounds. Both have toilets, fire pits and picnic tables, the Woodland Camping area also has free gas barbecues.
